- Apologies for the low quality of this photo. Prior to the mid-air collision between the Mustang and Skyraider a near miss occurred earlier when Supermarine Spitfire (G-MKVB) was on finals to land after completing its display when Douglas Skyraider (F-AZHK) approached the Hurricane at speed from behind. At the last moment the Skyraider either received a radio warning message to break or maybe after seeing the Hurricane made a sharp left break and climb to avoid.

Aircraft Data
The Spitfire was the RAF's first all metal stressed skin single engine fighter. It was produced from 1938-47 serving throughout WW2 and on into the 1950s in a series of increasingly capable versions. Over 40 examples are still airworthy world wide.
The Mk,V was a more powerful,stronger development of the Mk.II,and included many specialised sub-versions for high altitude interception, low level fighting, ground attack and reconnaissance. It served in most WWII theatres from 1941 to 1943.
