- Space shuttle Commander Mark Kelly and his five crew mates are on their way to the International Space Station after launching from NASA's Kennedy Space Center at 8:56 a.m. EDT. The STS-134 mission is the penultimate space shuttle flight and the final one for orbiter "Endeavour." Picture taken with a Minolta X-700 + 50mm lens attached to a sound trigger. Tripod is anchored by 3 bungee chords (orange) to 9 inch stakes driven into the ground. Three 30 lb bags of sand have been placed at each leg. The whole setup is wrapped in a garbage bag except for lens opening. Film = Fuji Velvia 50.
