- A momentous day as space shuttle orbiter "Discovery' has her payload bay sealed for history. The port door is closed and the starboard door swings by on its way to close the coffin-like payload bay. The doors are powered for the low gravity environment of low Earth orbit hence they need special rig/procedures to be opened and closed on Earth thus these were sealed shut for posterity to prevent damage.
