- XX894 wears the markings of 809 NAS, which were applied at Lossiemouth during the types retirement in March 1994. Note the fox markings on the inside of the front nose wheel door, giving away its 12 Squadron origins. XX894 is in fact a very significant Buccanner. It was one of two Buccaneers to destroy an enemy aircraft on the ground during Operation Granby/Desert Storm in 1991. It never received the credit for the kill of an An-12 Cub at Shayka Mazhar Airfield in Iraq on 27.2.91 until after the war. XX894's wingman was XX901 and it too destroyed an aircraft on the ground during the same sortie, but that ended up being a Kuwait AF C-130 (KAF-322) that had been captured by the Iraqi forces during the invasion of Kuwait. The kill marking was applied to XX885 in error by ground crew at Muharraq, Bahrain.
