Image Description:
This de Havilland DH60M Moth c/n 1542 was built in 1930 as a 'speed model' for DH Director Arthur S Butler and acheived 2nd place 1930 King's Cup air race at 129.7mph. It then went briefly to France with DH agent Edouard Bret before returning to the UK and then being sold to Sub.Lt. Holm R A Kidston, RN. Kidston who then shipped the Moth to New Zealand where it has been since 1935 as ZK-AEJ. The Moth was purchased by Simon Kidston (in 1933 this Moth was owned by Simon's father, the then Lieutenant Home R A Kidston, and carried the registration G-AAXG) and returned to the UK in 2008.
