- Air Senegal started operations in 2001 and became ‘International’ following the acquisition of a majority stake by Royal Air Maroc later that year. Heavy financial losses led to the Senegalese government recapitalising and replacing Air Senegal International with new airline ‘Senegal Airlines’ in 2009.
